The unibz community mourns the sudden passing of our colleague Daniel Tschurtschenthaler on Tuesday, 21 April 2026. He leaves behind his family and friends, to whom we extend our heartfelt sympathy.

Daniel had been part of unibz since October 2004, where he was responsible for the paper and bookbinding workshop in the Faculty of Design and Art’s workshop facilities. A native of Bozen-Bolzano, he graduated from the vocational school for graphic arts in Verona and worked in the private sector for many years before joining the university.

Curzio Castellan, head of the workshops, remembers him in these words: “Daniel was always a dedicated worker with outstanding expertise in his field, and I believe that all our students learned a great deal from him. What always struck me was his immense curiosity and the enthusiasm with which he pursued new interests, even outside work. We will miss him both personally and professionally, and we will miss the sharp wit that was so much a part of who he was. In him, we lose a colleague, a friend and a truly genuine person.”

The entire university community extends its deepest condolences to Daniel’s family and friends.
