More services for Alumni after graduation
By Arturo Zilli
The Free University of Bozen-Bolzano is strengthening the services dedicated to its graduates, reaffirming its commitment to supporting them even after they have completed their studies through free opportunities for lifelong learning, career guidance, access to prototyping spaces and library services. “The initiative is designed to keep the bond with the academic community alive and to support the personal and professional growth of the university’s alumni,” explains Iris Tappeiner, Head of the Career Service.
Among the main measures introduced, alumni will be able to enrol free of charge in one individual course of their choice per academic year. The initiative is intended to allow graduates to update their skills, explore new fields of interest or acquire knowledge useful for work and for specific projects. In addition, all Career Service offerings will remain free of charge even after graduation. Graduates will continue to be able to consult job opportunities published on the online Career Hub platform, take part in dedicated events and access personalised guidance for career orientation, CV review and application support. The service is aimed both at those entering the labour market and at those going through a phase of professional transition.
In the area of innovation and creativity, the university is also offering alumni a free two-month Short Membership at the BITZ unibz fablab, which can be requested once in a lifetime. The fablab is a space where members can develop ideas and turn them into concrete projects using machinery and technologies for prototyping, 3D printing and electronics. Support provided by the university library will also continue. For the three years following graduation, access as external users will be free of charge. The Library Card will make it possible to use the university’s physical collections and those of partner institutions, access the courier service between campuses, benefit from international interlibrary loan, suggest new acquisitions and consult electronic resources on site, such as databases, journals and e-books.
Alongside services related to education and careers, unibz is also confirming initiatives dedicated to exchange and networking. On 16 May 2026, the Alumni Homecoming will return for its fifth edition. The event will take place at the Faculty of Engineering at NOI Techpark and will include in-depth sessions, workshops, networking activities and an evening social programme. Online registration is required to participate.
These new measures are part of the university’s vision that people’s educational journey does not end with graduation, but continues over time through tools and opportunities for updating skills, building relationships and fostering growth. “We want our relationship with our graduates to continue even after they complete their studies. Strengthening services for alumni means offering concrete tools to update skills, face the world of work and develop new ideas, while keeping the bond with the unibz community alive,” underlines Rector Prof. Alex Weissensteiner.
