Science Slam, an event organized by Eurac Researchunibz, NOI Techpark and Stiftung Sparkasse- Fondazione Cassa di Risparmio di Bolzano, offers a unique opportunity to share your research with a broad public and compete for exciting prizes. The concept is simple yet challenging: you have ten minutes to present your topic in a way that captures the audience’s attention and makes them care. At the end of the evening, it is the audience who decides which presentation stands out.

Participants are welcome to perform in German, Italian or English. Researchers working in South Tyrol can apply regardless of their discipline. Those based outside the region are also encouraged to participate, provided their topic has a clear and meaningful connection to South Tyrol.

The path to the stage begins with a short application: a five-line abstract that outlines your research idea and hints at how you plan to present it. Applications can be submitted by the 15th of May via the official registration page. A selection of applicants will then be invited to take part in a two-day professional coaching programme led by experienced science slammers. These intensive workshops, scheduled for September 7–8 and September 10–11, are a mandatory step toward the final event. During the coaching, participants will refine their storytelling skills, work on stage presence and learn how to communicate complex ideas with clarity and impact.

Science Slam is more than a competition. It is a shared learning experience built on exchange, humor and mutual support. If you can engage your peers during the coaching sessions, you will be well prepared to win over a full audience. The communication skills developed along the way will prove valuable far beyond the event itself.

The slam evenings will take place at 8:00 p.m. on Friday, October 9, 2026, Thursday, October 15, 2026, and Thursday, October 22, 2026. Selected participants are expected to be available on at least one of these dates.

For full details about the format, requirements and event updates, visit the event’s website.

If you are ready to step out of the lab and into the spotlight, this is your moment.
