MSCA Postdoctoral Fellowships Days at unibz
By Arturo Zilli

Taking place across the central campus and NOI Techpark, this event brings together prospective MSCA candidates and unibz faculty supervisors with the aim of strengthening international research collaborations and promoting excellence in project design. The event also reflects unibz’s broader commitment to fostering research careers and facilitating access to competitive European funding.
The three-day workshop comprises practical sessions on proposal drafting, one-to-one mentoring with supervisors and inspirational dialogue with former awardees. Highlights include presentations by MSCA Postdoctoral Fellows and Seal of Excellence recipients, as well as a guided tour of NOI Techpark, which showcases the tangible impact of research on society and industry.

The first day began today with speeches from Rector Prof. Alex Weissensteiner, Vice-Rector for Research Prof. Tanja Mimmo and Manuel Gatto, Head of Scientific Research Office at the Autonomous Province of Bolzano- Bozen, followed by institutional presentations, an overview of the MSCA PF call and dedicated sessions on proposal structuring and writing. Highlights included a conversation with former MSCA fellows and Seal of Excellence awardees, as well as a practical workshop on building strong and innovative research proposals within the unibz context.
The second day will focus on one-to-one work between candidates and supervisors, including project refinement, laboratory visits, and meetings with potential stakeholders.
On the third day, participants will present their preliminary project ideas and receive feedback. The programme will conclude with a visit to NOI Techpark, South Tyrol’s innovation district, and a presentation of applied research in the local innovation ecosystem.
With sessions led by experienced evaluators, unibz staff, and external experts, the MSCA Days aim to enhance the quality and impact of individual research proposals while also reinforcing a culture of responsible and sustainable scientific development.
