Beatrice Bais, a PhD student at the Faculty of Engineering at unibz, recently won this year's "Woman in STEM/MINT" award by the Zonta Club of Bolzano. The award, given annually to women who excel in STEM (Science/Technology/Engineering/Mathematics) fields, includes a financial grant to support the recipient's research. This year's ceremony took place on 17 September.

Bais' research focuses on sustainability and supply chain management, using quantitative and qualitative methodologies to help companies efficiently navigate the green transition. Her work emphasises the integration of business and sustainability objectives. During her PhD, she was a visiting scholar at ETH Zurich, where the Zonta International Women in STEM Scholarship helped her overcome the financial challenges of living abroad and enhanced the quality of her research.

"I believe that Zonta's work is very important in encouraging and stimulating women's participation in scientific research to contribute to the improvement and development of our society. From this point of view, I believe that great strides have been made in giving women equal rights, although there is certainly more to be done", said Bais.
