Artificial intelligence is changing the way we work and think, but it is also shaping the world around us, permeating many aspects of our lives. The event “Tepee – Horizons of AI: A Journey Across Disciplines” will bring together experts from diverse fields to explore artificial intelligence from multiple perspectives, including economics, politics, ethics and law. Through presentations and discussions, participants will be invited to reflect on AI not only as a technological phenomenon, but as a cultural, ethical, and societal one too.

The morning session will consist of four talks given by experts on different aspects of AI, focusing on some societal and ethical challenges of this technology. Guglielmo Tamburrini, Professor of Philosophy of Science and Technology at University of Naples Federico II, will address the implications of AI on war, considering also the ongoing conflicts around the world. Judith Simon, Professor of Ethics in Information Technology at the University of Hamburg, will explore the ethical dimensions of AI. Massimiliano Nuccio, Professor of Economics and Business Management at Ca’ Foscari University of Venice, will examine how AI is shaping economy and society. Chiara Gallese, researcher in the field of Privacy, AI & Law at the University of Turin, will conclude the morning session by focusing on some legal aspects related to this technology. The afternoon will be dedicated to workshops and roundtables where students from the three Euregio universities will present their work on the topic and discuss it with the experts.

“The idea behind this event, which we hope will become a series in the coming years, is to focus on important and polarising topics and to analyse them from different perspectives”, explains Ivo De Gennaro, Professor of Philosophy of Economics, “We decided to start with artificial intelligence because it is a disruptive technology that is completely revolutionising our society”. “This event is an important opportunity to bring society closer to a critical topic and to encourage reflection on how deeply AI has permeated our world”, adds Greta Goracci, researcher in Econometrics at the Faculty of Economics and Management, “At the same time, we want our students to engage directly with experts and to understand how relevant and multifaceted their studies truly are”.

The morning session is open to the general public, including university and high school students, while the afternoon is more focused on the students from the universities of Bolzano, Trento and Innsbruck. The presentations will be held in Italian, German, or English. The event is organised by the Faculty of Economics and Management of unibz, with the support of Sparkasse and Euphur, the Euregio Platform for Human Dignity and Human Rights.

The event will take place on 12 April and is free of charge, but registration is required. The morning session will be held at the Sparkasse Academy (Via Cassa del Risparmio 16), while the afternoon session will take place at the Campus Bozen-Bolzano City Centre. For the full program and the registration, visit the event page.
